I figured out this morning that a big part of maturity is getting up from your coffee and your book and getting on with the business of the day- starting some bread, some beans, getting stuff ready for supper, cleaning, and not just making yourself a cuppa and sitting on the couch with your book.

Random~ started the first of two Jayne Cobb hats for Veloute (I actually have the earflaps done). Mostly done with my bottom-up sweater on circulars- I'm about to start the decreases.

Red Dwarf, Children of Dune, and NYC Ballet workout

The past few weeks we have been waching Red Dwarf- unfortunately gthe library only has series I-IV. One of the best things was not an actual episode, but a special feature on the the Series IV disc where the dwarfers guested on the cooking show "Can't cook, Won't cook". This gained us a lovely epidsode for Viceroy Chicken which will be a new keeper :)

Last night we started Sci-Fi's Children of Dune. It's worth getting from the library, but not much more. We let The Boy watch it with us and he commented about 1/2 way through that it made no sense. Of course, the long time sci-fi fan knows this is a hallmark of anyone trying to adapt Dune to the screen.

Lastly, this morning I tried out the NYC Ballet Workout DVD. Let me just say this- I'm not cut out to be a dancer. I quit after 15 inutes.

Blueberries

After the close of VBS today we headed to the blueberry farm. There are not many ripe, but we got a tasty sun warmed snack.

I will miss VBS- I always think we should go two weeks! It seems that we hit our groove about Weds and it seems a pity that we end two days later. Also, I miss all my kids :)

Finally, a Potter report ( NO SPOILERS!!!)

Well, I have been so busy reading Deathly Hallows, and by the time I finished Vacation Bible School was upon us. I finally gota few minutes to blog!

We got our copies midnight Saturday at Barnes & Noble. We arrived shortly before 9 PM Friday- myself, The Boy ( who was also buying a copy), his good friend J and HRH the Faery Princess. One of the highlights of the evening ( as in, before we got our books) was a trivia contest. There were questions around the store and one won points for one's house by answering questions correctly I got 43 out of 50 right, and I didn't answer three. We got homw right about 1 am with our books and were both done by Sunday night. I'm very sad to see this series come to a end.

School of Rock

A few days ago I was driving along with The Boy and HRH the Faery Princess when the Metallica classic "onoe" came on. I knew a great opportunity was presenting itself when The Boy started calling out chord names (letters?) As the opening music went on, I talked to them about both the book and movie "Johnny Got His Gun", we spoke of what body can endure and still go on, what the mind can endure, the horrors of war, and how cool S.O.S sounds in drums and electric.

Rainy Days of Summer

After a heat wave last week, we are finally getting a few days of chilly rain. While that gets tiresome when it's 6 months of it, it's welcome relief after days of 90+ degree weather. We've been sitting around watching all the Harry Potter movies, and Turbo's new movie, "Giant Monsters All Out Attack". We've reading alot too, Harry Potter for the Boy and myself, Rainbow and Disney Fairies for HRH, and Uncle Wiggiliy for Turbo.
