And coming up next

I think I may have to take us down the gluten free road. Although HRH's tests for Celiacs and wheat allergy came up neg, the symptoms are still there. I know if I don't give it a try, I'll wonder if I'm damaging her and will regret it. Sigh. This will take some work.

Mission Team meeting

I go to Mississipi in less than three weeks. Wow. I am so excited, and so terrified. We had people from the first team showing slides and telling abiut their experience. It's one thing to see the devestation on TV- another to see pictures of people you know in the middle of it. Everyone who spoke teared up, and one big manly guy type outright cried reading an e-mail from a family they helped. These people were so grateful to have their houses finally stripped to the studs. One couple had been seperated from their 4 kids since Katrina. They were upstate with Grandma while mom and Dad worked their full time jobs and them came home and tried to clean up their house. I am scared of the emotional intensity. Am I ready for this? Or is it maybe one of the reasons I am going?

I have been slacking so much- Tuesday was our only "real" day of school today, and that was cut off by sick boys. Next week will be even busier. The hardest thing will be getting the Afghan of Chaos done in time- topping off supper with most of a bottle of Merlot won't help with that. The boys have been really into Vikings and Norse Mythology this week. I'm not usually one of those homeschoolers who counts everything my kids do as "learning", but when they play with a refernece book of Norse gods by their side, it just might count.

Happy Stuff (mostly)

Happy Stuff (mostly) Current mood: tired Category: Life
Last night I went to a Burts's Bees presentation at the Health Food Store. IN addition to the truly generous gift bag, I was able to answer the presenters questions about ingredients and came home with a hand care bag, too! I know, I sound inordinately happy over it, but I have't had much money for skin care the past ...well, for a long time.
I stayed up late last nmight making a baby blanket. It's for HRH the Fairy Princess to take to ballet- her school collects baby items to take to a center for drug addicted babies. I did get sad making it.

I finished HRH's scarf and am working on Filius Ceasars. I will need even MORE yarn for the Dungeon Masters' Afghan of Chaos- it EATS yarn.

Goblet of fire, and yarn

We went to see Goblet of Fire yesterday. The effects were mostly cool, though I can't help feeling they could have done much better with Moody's eye. And they made the Ridgeback a wyvern for some reason.
The gaping plot holes were hard to deal with.
The scene with Amos Diggory crying over Cedric's body was heartwrenching I cried.
I loved the long hair all around. Lots of people seem to hate it, but I guess the combo of Hippie and Rennie predisposes me to long hair.

In strangley related news, my friend D read here that I am crocheting and offered me some yarn. Most of it is slated for a throw, but- get this- two of the skeins were scarlet and gold. Woot! I see a Gryffindor scarf in my future....

Snow!

It started snowing today when we were at the homeschool co-op, about 1/2 hour away. the kids were reluctant to leave, but I'm glad I insisted at it was laying by the time we got home. Got truffles provisionally finished (I think I have 1-2 more incoming orders), worked more on Turob's scarf ( a Tigger scarf- orange and black, 3 inch stripes done in double crochet). Also working on HRH's pink amd purple variegated done in triple crochet. I can'e beleive how much faster this stitch is! I much prefer to use a hook at least a size "too large"- makes the work faster and easier.

Oh, and finished DT. AAAAAAUUUUGGHHH! But really, how else COULD it end?
